SUGAR DANKS
Sugar Danks was born in an unassuming South of Market recording studio in San Francisco. For three years BZ Lewis, the late Billy Lee Lewis, Mona Gnader, and I had been playing together as Ruby’s Tattoo and recording with a well know Marin County producer. Sadly, we ended up with an album we didn’t love and a fractured band when bass player Mona Gnader took a lucrative job with Sammy Hagar. BZ, Billy, and I decided to try our own hand at making a record after BZ had set up his own recording studio in San Francisco. We experimented with our sound and employed a “wide open” policy, which gave room for all ideas and helped produce a very fun, sexy, and creative CD, melding pop, jazz, folk, world, blues, and rock genres. Shortly after the record came out, we nabbed a finalist position in the local Lilith Fair Competition sponsored by Alice Radio, and had songs placed on both Warner Brothers and Fox Television Network shows, as well as a feature film. We created enough material for Sugar Danks 2.0 but never manufactured a CD; however, you can listen / purchase / download all of this and more on my Bandcamp page.

BRILLIANT ADDICTION
After looking over BZ’s shoulder in the studio for years, I decided to try my own hand at producing a CD. I wrote, arranged, produced, recorded, performed, and designed the CD Package Brilliant Addiction in my Mill Valley home studio and asked BZ Lewis to mix it in his Oakland studio. Blame Sally’s Monica Pasqual and I both released solo CDs the same year, so we had a double CD Release Party at Yoshi’s in Oakland.

FOUND SOUNDS ALL AROUND
This project started with a simple iPhone recording of a heavy duty laundromat dryer when our own dryer needed repair. It was making the coolest groove, so I flew it into Logic Pro and built a track around it called “How Long.” I shared it with friends, and many of them sent me recorded sounds that they thought I could use similarly. This is a work in progress, but there’s a good body of work here all inspired by found sounds all around us.

OLD & NEW
This is a collection of old songs that I thought were worthy of re-recording along with new material that I’ve recorded in my Sebastopol studio. This is also a work in progress, so look for more songs to come soon!

When purchasing music, please consider doing so from Bandcamp rather than Spotify or Apple Music for two reasons: The type of file you will receive is of higher quality and the artists will actually receive the revenue from the purchase. Thank you!
